Head Coach Maria - I moved to Ohio after High School in 1964, and have been married to Bob Parfitt for 50 years. We have 1 Daughter, 1 granddaughter and 3 great grandchildren. Started training for the Ironman Triathlon 1982 to 1989. That was my passion, I still dream about it today. Most of my background in swimming was open water long distance. I was approached by Burchfield Cartwright, president of Thompson Park Board to start a youth swim team for the park that became the Dolphin Swim Team in 1989 and am happy to see it is still going strong. Since it's start, I have coached the Dolphins on and off for over 20 years. I started coaching swimming at Blackhawk and then was Head Coach at Hopewell High School. I have one state champion and two Girls sectional titles and have had 15 swimmers go on to swim in college. I have been the Beaver Local High School coach since 2001, and have also been the coach for the Calcutta/East Liverpool YMCA WaveRunners since 2010. Becoming a swim coach for 36 years has been one of the most rewarding things I have done, next to having my family and faith in Jesus Christ! I’m looking forward to a new swim season.
